Some emergency showers, usually the pole-mounted types, have integrated eyewash fountains that drain through a pipe beneath the bowl. The drain pipe is usually not connected to a drain and the water will run across the floor. Facilities can test the shower and integrated eyewash for you. Showers with integrated eyewashes inside of laboratories may not be on Facilities inventory. Verify that your shower/eyewash has a tag with a test date. If it does not, or if the test date is older than one year, contact Facilities. NOTE: Selected safety showers are also connected to alarms that notify Facilities when they are in use. |
